Inmi Kim is a 40-year-old student from Seoul, South Korea. She was formerly a counselor before moving to Oʻahu and attending Kapiʻolani Community College. Kim came here due to her boyfriend, who she plans to marry soon.

“My family is in Korea, and I miss them, but I feel we are connected,” Kim said, reflecting on her move.

Her major was Psychology when she graduated from Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea. Here, she hasn’t chosen a major yet. She’s taking ESOL 100 and trying to get more confident in her English skills before choosing her major in the future.

“I feel like I’ve improved a lot,” Kim said. “Fortunately, I met very good professors. They helped me well.”

Next semester, she plans on registering for Botany courses due to personal interest, as she loves nature and wants to help preserve the nature of Hawaiʻi. She loves exercise, Yoga being one of her main passions. Kim also loves hiking and in the past, often went on difficult courses which took days several days to complete.

The most important value to her is being hardworking in every part of her life, from her hobbies to her studies.

“Some people say don’t push yourself so hard. But honestly, I enjoy the process,” Kim said.
